Happy New Year to everyone!
Well we ended 2024 with an incredibly busy spell; just one full day off in 6 weeks. Christmas started for the Powell’s on the second week in November! We had a great time meeting up with old friends and new and certainly rocked up some miles in the van! We took a few days from Christmas Eve to cherish some special family time before seeing in the new year with us both playing, along with a piper, at our favourite local dance.
Lots of exciting events to look forward to in 2025! We will be hosting our second festival weekend at the Fairfield Manor Hotel in York at the end of January with a star studded line-up at this sumptuous 4* venue including John Cooper, Mark Thompson, Matthew Bason and Pete Shaw! Our planned Warwick Festival in November could not take place as the Government had procured the hotel for housing asylum seekers. We were absolutely delighted to be accommodated at the amazing Drayton Manor Resort Hotel in Tamworth! It might sound somewhat unusual running one of these events next to a West Midlands Theme Park, but the hotel proved to be absolutely incredible and an instant hit with all our guests! As a consequence, we shall be returning in both March and November (our beloved pre Christmas event!) for two more exciting visits! Guest artistes include Michael Wooldridge, John Cooper, David Thomas and Matthew Bason for March and Brett Wales, Andrew Nix, Pete Shaw, Ian Griffin and a duet show with Chris & Joanne Powell, (whoever they are!) for our November weekend. Sincere thanks go out to our technical team, the fabulous Pete Shaw and Steve Barrett- White for their expertise in all things lights, sound and cameras and everything else that they do for Music4You.
Following a successful run of joint Christmas shows at the Musical Museum in London in 2024, we will be returning with a series of Variety Shows along with Matthew Bason and his vocal talents this summer! We’ll then return in November and December for more Christmas shows! These are primarily supported with coach party reservations, but also available for private bookings. Another year of an incredibly busy diary for concerts, dances and festivals; both as players and also organisers. We’re happy to continue voluntarily to be involved with the organisation of the ‘Gainsborough Keyboard Showtime’, ‘Scunthorpe Music4You’, ‘Sleaford Music For All’, ‘Stilton Music4You’ and ‘ Lincoln Music For All’. Despite what some people say, the organ and keyboard world is far from defunct and we are delighted to have many new friends come along and join the ranks! Proof that there’s a new audience there, we just need to introduce them to what we all do!
Keep spreading the word!
Oh yes, we have 2 new duet CD’s and DVD’s in the bag! Both recorded at the Musical Museum on the Wurlitzer, Roland and KeyB/ Ketron.
Hoping they’ll be ready to be released asap. It all takes time!
We both hope very much to be able to say hello somewhere along the way!
All the Very Best for now, Chris & Joanne xx
